Biography
Bruce David Janu is an award-winning filmmaker, educator, and founder of Bell, Book and Camera Productions. With over 30 years of experience in education, Bruce seamlessly combines storytelling with a passion for history, music, and social impact. He began his filmmaking career with the critically acclaimed documentary Facing Sudan (2007), which earned two Best Documentary awards, including recognition at the Illinois International Film Festival. The film brought attention to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, both in the South and in Darfur.
Bruce followed this success with Crayons and Paper, a moving short film that chronicled the experiences of a pediatrician working with Doctors Without Borders across global conflict zones. His work continued to evolve with This Sacred Space: The Story of the Old Lynn Concerts, a unique blend of concert film and historical documentary, for which he was honored with a Best Director award at Toronto’s Couch Film Festival.
